Mira and Cecilia met in 2019 during the rehearsals and the performance of "L'Incoronazione di Poppea" by Claudio Monteverdi under the baton of Federico Bardazzi; Their involvement in the performances of two other Monteverdi masterpieces under the same conductor - Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (2022) and L’Orfeo (2021, 2023, 2024) - led to the development of their friendship
Mira's background as a pianist and violinist, and Cecilia's studies in singing and choral conducting, form the foundation of their professional success and their ability to create a unique musical dialogue that blends interpretative depth and artistic harmony.
Year after year, they grew closer, so much so that during one of the final tours of L'Orfeo in Málaga, at lunch, one of their collegues said: "What a duo you are, you should really make it official!"
That was the spark that lit their flame: despite the distance between them, they share a deep friendship and a forward-looking musical path.
In 2024 DUO LAUDA was born: a wholly women-led duo that performs mostly sacred and devotional repertoire, ranging from early baroque to contemporary music, with elements of secular music where the organ plays a concertante role or represents an orchestra.
The distinctive values of Duo Lauda include musical divulgation, with a particular focus on studying and performing works by women composers.
